How to Count the Carbs in ExtendShakes

  If you are counting your carbs – whether it’s to help you manage your meal plan or determine if an adjustment to your insulin is appropriate – count only the carbohydrates in ExtendShakes that have a short-term impact on blood sugar.  These carbohydrates are referred to as “faster-acting” or “net carbs”.  The remaining carbohydrates, “slower acting”, convert slowly to blood sugar and therefore, have minimal impact on blood sugar.  

  According to clinically conducted continuous glucose monitoring, only 2 of the 12 total grams of carbohydrate in ExtendShakes have a short-term impact on blood sugar.  Fiber and uncooked cornstarch convert slowly and have minimal impact on blood sugar.

Ingredient List

Careful consideration was taken in selecting the ingredients for the ExtendShakes formulas.  We looked for ingredients with a low glycemic index to enhance ExtendShakes’ ability to stabilize blood sugar levels and minimize any rise in blood sugar from drinking the shake. The glycemic index is a measurement of how quickly a particular food converts to glucose (blood sugar) in your body. The lower the glycemic index, the less likely a food will be to cause high blood sugar after eating it. 

The resulting ExtendShakes formulas are unique in their ability to convert to blood sugar so gradually and have been awarded 14 patents.  ExtendShakes are clinically proven to help you:

  • Control hunger by suppressing appetite
  • Avoid low blood sugar, even overnight
  • Reduce blood sugar swings
  • Sustain energy during exercise and recovery

Gluten-Free Products

All of the ingredients in all of our ExtendShake flavors are gluten-free.  However, the facility where the ExtendShakes are produced may produce other products that contain ingredients with gluten.  Even though the facility takes measures to thoroughly clean their equipment in between the production of different products there is a possible risk for cross-contamination from other products produced in the facility that contain gluten.
